Request: need iPhone app ideas

As you might have read I’ve got myself an iPhone developers certificate now. Cool eh :) I’m still learning the shizzles and nizzles in Cocoa Touch, but I need some good ideas for iPhone apps. I don’t promise to actually make your app-proposals – but if it’s really good – I might. As we speak, I’m finishing off my CoffeeCounter app, which is really stupid actually, but a good practice. You can count the coffees you drink a day and I’m planning to let you twitter them automatically. I know, pretty stupid (like most other iPhone apps), so give me your ideas people!!

An app with a few sliders to mix colors (RGB?), so you could preview them. With a dynamic background in THAT colour?

What about an app that does nothing but is just very expensive .. kind of a status symbol .. yes, that’s cool :)

Or a Belgian tip calculator .. you enter the price of your meal, press calculate, and the app displays 0 €

    A basic ‘counter’:
a basic list of things, the programme gives the total amount.
    Everything is

example for a shopping list but i could be used to count a lot of things:
    Apples 2x 0.50 = 1
    Meat 1x 4.5 = 4.5
    Milk 4x 1.2 = 4.8
    Total = 10.3

@Bloekie: Sounds doable and might be interesting. It gives me inspiration for other apps. Thanks!

@Steven Verbruggen: LOL :D The Belgian Tip calc is brilliant! At the end it could display something like: “Tips included, stupid!”

@Nick: I don’t get the idea very well. There are already one or two shopping lists apps, but adding the price for Apples doesn’t seem something anyone wants, no?

    SERVICE INCLUDED YOU FOOL!
With an image of B.A. :)
And you might trick the Americans visiting Europe into it :)

Port Zork to the iPhone. Instant winner!

The current shopping lists are just ‘lists’ of things to remember. I want an application that i can use to calculate in the shop itself. Or sum and multiply several things, with the possibility to easily edit. :)

A seuquential timer, that can be set to a series of alarms, for instance: an alarm every three minutes, but then without manual reset, so the next ‘timeslot’ starts automatically. You could ‘program’ sequences in advance: 3min – 2min – 3 min or 5 min – 3 min – 5 min. You get the idea. Does not need to be complex – fairly simple will do the trick. I’ll get you a mockup by tonight, ok? :-)

@Wolf: Great one! Sounds like a really good plan!

@Nick: Ah, like that. I get it now. Sounds doable.

@b- One iphone-running-app coming up ;-) Sounds doable too.

    You need sketches/mockup/designs? :-)

A way to get notes and pennies.app data to your Mac… too many apps forget syncing.

Can you try a calculator for ingredients? like: you need 3 eggs for 4 persons, what do you need for 5 persons?

What about an app that makes a buzzing sound that scares away dogs.

Great for aggressive dogs :-) and for people who are afraid of dogs

I think I have a winner! I named it”iFall.” It is for Personal Safety. Targeting the energetic and or the elderly iPhone users. The app could text, email or call an emergency contact of your choice should you become unconscious from injury, heart attack or assault. It would use the built accelerometer to detect a non standing position. http://www.ifall.com for better description.
    -Thanks, Steve

I’ve been looking for a nice scheduling software for my iphone. I purchased smarttime plus and is ok but has too many bugs and thinks athat are useless to me. Here is what I’d like to see. I think this app would sell great under the app store.

A calander replace program that allows small businesses to shedule appointment right on their iPhone. The app need the ability to be able to easily add the client information via contact without manually typing it in. set the start and end time for that appointment, notes about the job and automaticly adds the phone number from the contact to the scheduled item. Other plus features would be being able to call numbers from the scheduled item by tapping the phone number, sync with google calander, and create custom job catagories. Good luck on you new venture.

Since the iPhone was first introduced, I’ve been waiting for (and disappointed not to find!) a… baseball (or softball) SCORING application. the iPhone would be perfect for entering balls/strikes/hits, for gesturing to advance runners, for locating hit location, etc. seems like about as obvious a use for an iPhone as there is (there is a scoring app for Palm, but… it’s a Palm! it’s crappy).

I run a swimming school. I need a lesson / appointment schedule maker. I have small group and private lessons. I’ll need to limit class size, or make it a private class.

I have a an idea for an app. Make a card game app for a game called Olsen. It is a great game. One of the best card games I have ever played. It’s mostly about punishing, but you need to play smart. I you need to know how to play the game, contact me at:

I always like weird projects. How about a FORTRAN interpreter written in Javascript. The would just be a big html file as if I understand things, writing a binary for a language is a no-no, which this wouldn’t be. For inspiration, see Navajo Gunleg’s Basic interpreter written in Javascript:
    http://www.ngbasic.com/

I wish that it would be OK to have something like Smallbasic:
    http://smallbasic.sourceforge.net/

A single icon activated fake “Blue (or your favorite color) Screen Of Death” would help Win users make the transition to an Apple device. It could have a “Settings” menu where you could select from old Win 3.x GDI errors, or newer versions like the BSOD. Options could include fake stuck keyboard key continuous beeping, and disk error messages. Even better if they could be linked to a scheduler to amp up the fun when friends are around – just look startled. :-)

How about an app that uses GPS (and compass) to give you directions to a book you searched for. For example you find a book you want to buy, and the app can give you directions to the closest one in a book store, or in a library. If it’s in a library it will have all the locations of the books Geo coded to enable you to get the exact row of books and possibly even correct shelf level!

Similar to how Worldcat tells you how many miles away you are from the book.

Just thought I would mention it!
