Brooklyn’s Finest

Looks like a pretty cool movie to me. I’ve got a thing with New York so I’m very curious for the movie! Shot with nice Carl Zeiss lenses (via http://twitter.com/ZEISS_lenses/status/13786492064).

adidas Originals – The Street Where Originality Lives

Nice commercial for adidas.

Welcome to the street where originality lives; the adidas Originals neighborhood. This is where athletes, musicians, skaters, artists, entertainers and more all come together to show their colors, their style and their originality.

A Single Man

I’ve seen a lot of movies lately, but this one is different. A Single Man is a story about a British college professor who is struggling to find meaning to his life after the death of his long time partner. For me personally, the most significant thing about this movie is the cinematography. Every shot in this movie —and I really mean every shot— is just awesome. I think every still in the movie is a very good picture on itself. The cinematographer (Director of Photography) Eduard Grau did a great job imho… respect!! Here are a few movie stills that prove they are great pictures too (note: no editing done, the movie is like the pictures, even with the grain, the colors, and some scenes in high-contrast black and white).

Not all credit should go to Eduard Grau though, the movie is directed by fashion designer Tom Ford. Tom Ford was creative director of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent before he started his own brand. This is his debut as a movie director and he has done really well. Read this NYT article if you’re interested in more and make sure to go to see the movie, because it’s going to win an Oscar, that’s for sure!

Spielzeugland

Last week I went to Berlin. I wasn’t been there before so I did all the typical tourist attractions. It’s an amazing city, with loads of hints to it’s history and weird looking traffic lights.

spielzeugland

In the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum, I saw this (short) movie: Spielzeugland (Toyland). It’s about a friendship between two boys in 1942 where one boy believes his Jewish friend is going to “Toyland”. I loved it and even took a picture of the ending titles because I loved the music as well. In the mean time, back home, I searched for the musician’s name and found out that the movie actually won an Oscar!

The full movie (14 minutes) is available online and can be watched here. It’s not subtitled, but if you understand German a bit and have a moment, you should definitely watch it.

tron2

Yeah! That’s what I thought when I saw the teaser trailer for TRON legacy. I don’t really know what to expect from that movie, but when I see this trailer I can only have high hopes. It’s a pity that it comes out in 2011… that’s a long wait! Another movie I’m really looking forward to is District 9. Comes out August 14th. Check out the trailer here. I really like sci-fi movies when it’s very realistic. This was also the case in Children Of Men and recently in Public Enemies so I can’t wait to see District 9 :)
